Driver Training Scheme
Driver training under CARESAFE is a Community Based, Self Help, Comprehensive Driver Training Scheme.
In 1972 my son Graeme Ash started driver training for new drivers which the Ash family organised. They were assisted by a team of helpers and instructors. The Ash's bought 10 hectares of land on which to conduct the training.
The scheme was described as unequalled in Australia by a leading instructor. The demand by those wanting to learn to drive in their Driver Training Scheme was proof of its success but the government and authorities either ignored or opposed such a community serving effort. Over 200 learners at a time were being trained and more wanting the very economical but efficient training. Eventually the work and effort proved too much for the Ash's who did it all on a voluntary basis.
